Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting ... With Finish
Calderwood Shop Day - 13 April 2024
Bill was able to work on a Saturday, so after two months away, I'm back at the drum shop.
Another run of concert toms for Steve Weiss got sprayed with dye and clear. My goal was to wet sand and buff 4 snare shells, but that went sideways. Ears were cut and dyed for the Leedy drum and we cut some 2 ply strips for hoop laminations.

Calderwood Shop Day - 19 February 2024 Another round of sand back/spray on five snare drum shells. Caleb stops by the stop to refurb a 10" concert tom. And we push the large Taiko drums ahead with layout/drilling, bearing edges, interior clean up, and work on the counter hoops - grinding welds and ribbon wrap. Calderwood Shop Day - 02 February 2024 BALES sands back the five snares again and completes the 2024 broad shop organization. Bill starts a run of Calderwood strainers [3 bronze, 6 brass, and 6 aluminum] and does business stuff off camera. We both work on the Taikos - finessing the burst/fade and applying the first coat of finish. A roller room modification was required, which of course took lo...

Calderwood Shop Day - 29 January 2024 I've been knocking around the shop since November, but it's been sporadic, so filming took a back burner. 2024 housekeeping is close to complete, shop upgrades (big laser and digital project board) are being dialed in, and working on a stack of projects. Cookie Monster Costume - Slideshow [Halloween 2023]
Просмотров 4067 месяцев назад
Cookie Monster has been on my costume wish list for at least a decade, but I've been hesitant due to several factors - subpar sewing and patterning skills, uncertainty of a few design elements, and knowing it would take a lot of time. Historically, I burned a week of PTO for my yearly dose of costuming therapy. Long days in the shop, a few all nighters, racing towards the beggar's night deadlin...

DAMN, IT'S AMAZING!
Lost civilization ... not Homosapiens Sapiens ... everywhere on the Earth ... everywhere ... Granit Structures
That’s a fun storyline, but it’s fictitious.
hello, wanted to ask: do you have any mirrors of the band featured in the video? I have not been able to find their music in a while
Is a mirror a compact disc? Of Last Resort was a studio project and we only completed 2 tracks, which were both used for downloadable content within the Rockband video game. To my knowledge, it wasn't released anywhere else.
@@BALES5000 yeah, i'm asking if there's any place i can find the song in this video. i ended up actually finding Fade Away in the video game itself(and as the music for the menu on rock band blitz) but Held Me Up as far as i know was not released as DLC (or if it was, i must not have bought it). Though it is listed on the (now long gone) site containing credits for RB:Blitz, but i don't know if i've ever heard it in the menu Basically, to summarize this video is the only way i've been able to find this particular song 😅
I can send you the file if you drop me an email. This same username at gmail dot com.
"taking measurements isn't allowed" what nonsense
I don't make the rules
The robbers tunnel is the holy grail of this structure. Theres NO REASON for the robbers to go 30 feet away & make it much more difficult on themselves veering left but somehow they still managed to hit a bullseye right at the intersection Dead on!? That means they knew where the tunnel was, that means they could have started closer to the original Shaft and they could have started lower to the original Shaft, or, gone into the original shaft belzoni cleared in 1 day and saved themselves some trouble, right!? 👍 or it was dug from the inside out.,, for no reason, I cant think of one purpose. Now I've just read belzoni, vyse & Keith Hamilton's stuff. Belzoni & I quote,, said the tunnels were "curving towards the center" he mentioned kufu's entrance was NOT located in the center,, he mentioned the robbers tunnels WERE in the center,, & he finally decided to dig 30 ft to the left of the center,, he knew what center meant & the workers laughed at him!? I think they called him a mangoon or something lol (so) Belzoni never mentioned the tunnels were curving towards the original entrance tunnels, belzoni's workers would have known that the tunnels were veering to the left so they would have known their target was probably located somewhere to the left. That means they wouldn't have been laughing at Belzoni. I'm speculating that the robbers tunnels upper & lower sections goes STRAIGHT BACK or if anything curves right not left. He mentioned the intersection ceiling shaft Veers 30 ft up & to the left. He did not say the robbers tunnel veered toward the intersection shaft. He said it curved toward the center. I'm speculating there's a good chance those tunnels don't connect. Or theres another chamber somewhere they were aiming for from the outside. And they may have done the exact same thing from the inside. Because Belzoni said the lower shaft was almost plugged up with rubble,, now let me play Columbo lol The only way rubel could have been filling up the lower passageway, would be they were digging from the inside out and throwing the waste down the shaft, 👍 they got 30 ft and quit. They got in through the original entrance and we're digging from the inside looking for other Chambers,, now, if that's the case, where did the upper and lower robber tunnels go to, before the both collapsed? They were 30 ft away because they were aiming for something else This can all be proven if someone were allowed to go into the robbers tunnel and see if it veers left towards the intersection ceiling, or one of those pyramid scans would show if the robber tunnel went straight back curve to the right or curved to the left ✌
Look more like the Tower or Babal.
Probably didn’t exist, but ok
Looks like a lambeg drum
Great idea. Most of the caddy plans I've seen are too tall to fit in the fridge shelves, and who wants to carry around warm beer?
The Sphinx water erosion goes back to the Younger Dyras, 10,900 ya and since the Osireion sits at a much lower level that this erosion layer...either the Osireion was constructed via excavating a HUGE bathtub for it to sit in or it is much older than 10,900 years.
Highly doubtful on all counts
That's brutal to have to sand the finish back like that. Cool to see the laser cutter working to save you time.
I do love a good shop day
So out of all the blocks in ancient Egypt, these are the only ones that peoples bare feet wore down?
This video shows 2 staircases at Dendera and 2 staircases at Edfu. There is a link in the description for another video showing two staircases at Philae temple, so that's 6 right there. All sandstone and all surfaces that see a lot of abrasion due to use.
Is there a place to find plans for jig like this?
Wordworking/CAD plans ... no. But there is an Instructable, which is linked in the video description. Due to the lack of standardization with saw decks and distance from the fence to the center of the arbor, a static set of plans wouldn't really work.
@@BALES5000 - Agreed. It wouldn’t. I’ll be sure to check the link. Thanks!
She sure is a beaut clark. drummers are probably the most creative when it comes to our drums. I've invested maybe $1000 in just little tools and this will be my next project. Thanks for sharing bud.
VERY NICE WORK! And nice that you gave credit to the other RUclips folks too. I have been trying to figure out how to make this kind of jig (like you I do NOT have a CNC) and your plan seems the most logical and straight forward. Gonna give it a test drive tomorrow :) Thanks, Larry
Nice! 100 feet of rope is going to take FOREVER to lace!
I'll make sure to skip that day
@@BALES5000 aw, c'mon! Somebody needs to hold sll that rope!
Great to see the operation again!
Great info! Thank you.
I love your feet.... <3
Congrats on the new job... I think!... Those are some monster shells. I enjoyed seeing the setup to make them work.
Thanks, Greg. New job will be alright once I shake off the rust. Hopefully I can be at the shop to help assemble these barrels.
Good to hear you got a new "day job". Nobody can rely on Adsense these days unless you're a "beast" sized channel.
I've finally got Halcyon to work for me! It took some time, along with trying out a few spray guns, but it works now. Who knows, I might actually make some money this year!
Took awhile for Bill to find a better gun as well. I'm noticing better results in the winter months, which I think is directly related to humidity. Profit would be nice.
I own a high dollar Sata gun.....still waiting for that to come back from NJ. Bought one from HF. Once I got that dailed in, clear sailing
It's not stupid if it works. The fade turned out pretty slick.
Oh yeah ... diggin' the fade. Once the white rope is running vertically and around the center, it'll look sweet.
are you gonna keep the modified roller room lol
It's just a removable extension held in place with two small bolts. There is a plan to overhaul the room with a single motor driving all the rollers, but it probably won't happen until the individual units start giving up the ghost.
Always fun to come back to Ye Olde Drumm Shoppe.
Kinda funny that right after you mentioned McMaster-Carr, there was an ad for Grainger! I look at a few suppliers for metal. Usually best price is from Online Metals, but if I need it asap, McM has it here in less than 12 hours!
Nice!!! They’re all looking good mid-production!
Such cool stuff!
Anytime! Glad to be of service :)
Those swag offroad stands are sweet. I have the smaller one you put in a bench vise. If I only had a bigger shop...
It's turning out to be pretty handy and the on/off foot switch is awesome.
@@BALES5000 nice. I have the harbor freight one. For my se, it’s fine. Also have the switch which is a must! Wish my wood band saw had one haha.
is this the only leedy rope tenstion drum what?!
hey maybe you can do some nah Cooperman does that meh why not follow a lather civil war era anchor
The leather anchors deform and tear out over time, so we prefer the laser cut wooden option.
Is it Christmas!?
Maybe?
pulltab ears are gonna be awesome my WFL 40s drum will look awesome
Good to see you both made it! I have some NOS Remo 17" heads. Most are Ambassador white coated, if the customer doesn't want to go the fiberskyn route.
That's good to know since we have one and Remo takes forever.
@@BALES5000 we should put together an order of remo heads, so it'll come sometime in our lifetimes!
Yay baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bout F’n time! 😂
Glad you’re back!
Good to see you back in the shop. Lots going on like always!

Great build. So funny. Id love to make that for Halloween.
Thanks. If you can pattern and sew ... or just learn how to do it as you go like I do, you shouldn't have a problem. There is a link in the description to an Instructable with all the details.
F YES. I dig the retro Sesame Street jam! 😁. This was a great build!
It's worth the copyright claim and monetization ineligibility!
@@BALES5000 agreed!!! Looking forward to your next creative project!
Must sound like dog shit since you never let us hear it.
Good day Mr. Fogman420 ... or may I call you, Oo? Who hurt you? Do you need a hug? Do you kiss your Mother with that mouth? The drum is actually mixed into the playing outro portion of this video. Perhaps you didn't catch that because you were distracted as you typed this clever comment. Or perhaps your ears aren't currently trained to focus/isolate tracks within a mix. However, there is a follow up video called .... wait for it .... "How Does It Sound? - The QUIK-TUBE Snare Drum". It's possible you're on a device which makes reading the description difficult, frustrating, or merely impossible. It sounds like a drum made from densely compressed cardboard, which surprisingly isn't bad. You may disagree ... we all have preferences and opinions. I'd say it's not as good as wooden shell constructed drums I've made, could hold it's own against a lot of boutique builder drums, but definitely better than a First Act type beginner drum. It makes a great effects drum, side snare, popcorn snare, etc. I checked out the few videos on your channel and for me, your snare sounds mushy. Maybe a new head or a few rotations of a drum key. Or ... you do you and leave it the way you like it. Godspeed, Oo.
@@BALES5000Oo snap!
🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
So good!
Freaking brilliant
I thought you fell off the face of the earth!
Not yet. Bill has had an intern, so I've been putting my time into house projects and then this side mission. Might stop into the drum shop next week before he starts the Urban Nutcracker production.
Now this is the content I miss! Outstanding job Sir!
